From the villages near Heriz in N.W. Persia these hardy Karaja rugs were used traditionally in farm and village houses. They were not built for obsoletion but rather with wear to gain that worn look and a patina making the rug more and more beautiful over time like a favourite pair of blue jeans.
Wonderful thick wools and an extremely colourful palette are woven on a cotton base show this geometric design off to its best. A soft gentle faded red, rich indigo blues and ivory tones are the main colours that can hold the bold design and secondary and tertiary colours.
This rug has not been chemically treated in any way, is the real deal and can last another 100 years easily.
