Although many have Mantras (written prayers and invocations) on the outside many older ones are far simpler.Mantras are placed inside the copper drum.
During prayer devotees recite mantras and simultaneously rotate the prayer wheel.
The energy and movement energizes the written internal mantras and these thousands of prayers and blessings spin out the wheel to be released into the Cosmos & Universe.
These blessings are for the good of all humanity and also help the devotee live a good life in accumulating wisdom and resulting good karma.
